Maintaining Your Status
While studying in the United States, it is important to maintain your F or J student status. Maintaining your status includes checking in with your DSO upon arrival in the United States, updating your address within 10 business days of it changing, not participating in unauthorized work, and attending a full-time course schedule (12 credit hours).
Always consult your DSO/International Student Advisor when you have questions about your status or before participating in any type of work/practical training opportunity. Failing to maintain your status can result in the loss of your student status and required immediate departure from the United States.
For a more detailed look at how you can maintain your status, please review the Study in the States website.
