Health Insurance
Health Insurance is required for all international students on an F or J visa attending a University System of Georgia School. International Students will have the option of SHIP (Student Health Insurance Program). If you choose to take insurance that is not SHIP, you are required to waive out of SHIP EVERY semester. Your insurance must meet all University System of Georgia requirements and be ACA compliant. If you fail to waive out by the deadline, you will be charged for the SHIP health insurance. To access the insurance waiver, please visit the following website.
Once it is past the waiver deadline, you will need to make an appeal to International Student Services to have the insurance charge removed. In your appeal, you will need to show proof of insurance that meets all requirements, and explain why you did not waive out before the deadline. International Student Services will review your appeal, and if approved, will have the waiver applied to your account.
