Health Insurance
All International ELI Students on an F or J Visa are required to have health insurance. If you have insurance that is not SHIP, you are required to waive out of SHIP insurance EVERY semester. Your insurance must meet the University System of Georgia's requirements and be ACA compatible. If you fail to waive out by the deadline you will be charged for the SHIP health insurance. To access the insurance waiver please visit the following website.
Once it is past the waiver deadline, you will need to make an appeal to International Student Services to have the SHIP insurance charge removed. In your appeal, you will need to show proof of insurance that meets all requirements and explain why you did not waive out before the deadline. International Student Services will review your appeal and if approved will have the waiver applied to your account.
