Health Insurance
All international students on an F or J visa attending a University System of Georgia School are required to have health insurance. International Students will have the option of SHIP (Student Health Insurance Program). If you choose to take different health insurance, you are required to waive out of SHIP EVERY semester. Your health insurance must be ACA compliant. If you fail to waive out by the deadline, you will be charged for the SHIP health insurance.
Once it is past the waiver deadline, you will need to make an appeal to International Student Services to have the insurance charge removed. In your appeal, you will need to show proof of insurance that meets all requirements, and explain why you did not waive out before the deadline. International Student Services will review your appeal, and if approved, will have the waiver applied to your account.
